When I first read this I went through my book case trying to decides what was my favorite book. I have so many books and like a lot of them but really could not thing of the one “favorite”. The directions were “Take the first sentence from your favorite book and make it the first sentence of your post.” In many of the book the first sentence would be very difficult to make it my first post. Then it dawned on me my favorite book was right on my desk waiting for the daily study. It is the bible.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.{RSA) This is about monotheism or the belief in one God. This tells us the the heaven and earth had a beginning created by God. This sentence is not a heading or a summary but but a declaration from an act of God. It also tells us of God’s supernatural intervention to create something from nothing. Notice the plural term heavens. He created two realms including a supernatural abode for angels and a natural dwelling place for mankind.
